If you are just joining us please follow these steps below...
First Step
Sign on, make a pass word and a profile. Add a picture and then...
Before anything happens you have to sign-on and then... wait for me to approve you as a member. I forgot to mention this tiny but significant step. Sorry for any confusion. So there IS a lag time between the first time you sign on and when you are able to edit and add pages on your own. It is a two step process. This keeps the site secure from outsiders coming onto the site and making any changes. It's a security thing... I will approve you usually withing 8-24 hours. And then you can move on to the next step. You will have to Check back to the site to see if it's working yet. I will leave you a message on the site once I've approved your membership. Inbox is at the top right.
Step Two
CLICK ON "My Profile" in the top right.
1. Upload a picture to your profile if you haven't by clicking edit button and selecting a photo from your computer.
2. This page is also the area where you can change your email preference for notifications about updates to the site.
3. Give yourself a profile name (use your real name in it please- It can be clever and wacky and artsy too).
4. No need to fill out the other info like birthday favorite books etc....unless you like.
Step ThreeSTART BY CREATING YOUR OWN PAGE:
- Go to student pages 2010 in the left hand column
- Click on the little blue page icon in the left "Add a new page"
- Type "your name"... Page" . Or something clever with your name, so we make the association of who it is.
- When you are done Click the save button. If you don't, the changes will not be saved and you will have to start over! Yuk!
- Remember you can edit your page and almost any other page by clicking the EasyEdit button on the top middle/left. Please do not edit other student pages.
- If you want to add multiple pages as sub pages of your page where you will divide up your class work from your resume/artist statement or pictures of your work etc etc. feel free. Make separate pages how ever you like. Start on your main page and click new page from there they will all be accessible by a little arrow next to your main page. See the Artists' Resources page for an example of how that works to have sub-pages by clicking the little arrow next to Artists' Resources. Look at the archives for other examples.
- Add Images: I recommend that you start selecting your images now that you want to show us. Some may end up being in your final presentation. Feel free to add older images of past work. As you make new work you can put this up too and later we can decide which work best suits your final presentation theme. Upload the ones that you would like to show and we can decide together which work best supports the vision of what you do later. If you need someone to photograph your work I make recommendations under Resources. We will also hopefully have a day to photograph your work as a group.
- PLEASE NOTE: The file size restrictions when adding photos is listed in the dialog box when Add Photo is selected. It reads:
"Please limit photo dimensions to no more than 400x500 pixels. Image size should be less than 500k" THERE IS ALSO A HELP BUTTON ON THAT DIALOGUE BOX THAT WILL TAKE YOU TO MANY STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS.
- Post a current artist resume if you have one. That can be on a separate page.
- Post artist statement if you have one. A work in progress statement is great. We will work on this all semester. Don't be shy about it. It will get edited multiple times.
- Post a link and or photo of the work of a favorite artist.
Step Four and on...BROWSE THE PAGES ON OUR SITE
Browse around at the many links under ARTISTS' Resources, LINKS and ARCHIVE Student pages BY LOOKING IN THE LITTLE BOX IN THE LEFT HAND COLUMN UNDER "HOME". THE LITTLE ARROWS NEXT TO A PAGE IN THE LEFT HAND COLUMN MEANS THERE ARE OTHER PAGES BELOW THAT ARE HIDDEN. CLICK ON THE LITTLE ARROW NEXT TO THE PAGE TO GET THE DROP DOWN MENU OF THE OTHER PAGES UNDER RESOURCES SUCH AS FUNDING, WEB, ETC.
THREADS
Feel free to comment on any of the content at the bottom of any page under Threads.
Please sign, date and title your THREAD entries. We will all be able to read what you write. This is how a dialogue is born.
Click on the Bar at the top "Discussions" To read threads that have been posted previously.
Click on the Bar at the top"Updates to see what is new on the site.
